چکیده
Abstract Calcitonin gene related peptide (CGRP) expressing neurons in the parabrachial nucleus have been shown to encode danger. Through projections amygdala and other forebrain structures, they regulate food intake trigger adaptive behaviors response threats like inflammation, intoxication, tumors pain. Despite fact that this danger-encoding neuronal population has defined based on its CGRP expression, it is not clear if critical for function. It also structures involved danger-encoding. To examine role of danger-related motivational responses, we used male female mice lacking ?CGRP, which main form brain. These had no, or only very weak, expression. this, did behave differently compared wildtype when were tested a battery responses known be mediated by nucleus. Mice ?CGRP showed similar inflammation-induced anorexia, conditioned taste aversion, aversion thermal pain pain-induced escape behavior, although should pointed out study was powered detect any possible differences minor sex-specific. Collectively, our findings suggest necessary many threat-related including some are

Calcitonin Gene-Related Peptide (CGRP)
Calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) is a 37 amino acid vasoactive neuropeptide that is widely distributed in central and peripheral nervous systems in mammals. CGRP was discovered in 1982 by molecular cloning of calcitonin (CT) gene. CGRP-specific mRNA appears to predominate in the hypothalamus while CT mRNA predominates in the thyroid. CGRP has an amphiphilic α-helical secondary structure i...
متن کاملRenal mesangium is a target for calcitonin gene-related peptide.
Rat calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP alpha; EC50, 1 nM) was shown to stimulate cAMP formation in cultured rat renal mesangial cells. CGRP concentration dependently (EC50, 1 nM) also inhibited contraction of mesangial cells by angiotensin II (10 nM). Angiotensin II (10 nM) caused a transient increase of the intracellular calcium concentration from 140 nM to 480 nM in the mesangial cells, bu...
متن کاملComparison between Brain Natriuretic Peptide and Calcitonin Gene Related Peptide in Children with Dilated Cardiomyopathy
Background: Dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) is revealed with the left ventricular dilatation and systolic dysfunction. This study was performed to determine the level of Calcitonin Gene Related Peptide (CGRP) and Brain Natriuretic Peptide (BNP) in children with dilated cardiomyopathy and controls and comparison of these two biomarkers in patients. Materials and Methods: This case-control study was...
متن کاملSolution structures of calcitonin-gene-related-peptide analogues of calcitonin-gene-related peptide and amylin.
Near-u.v. and far-u.v. c.d. spectra of human alpha-calcitonin-gene-related peptide (h alpha CGRP), analogues and fragments of CGRP and amylin were recorded in aqueous solution and in trifluoroethanol (TFE)/water mixtures. All peptides contained significant amounts of alpha-helix in aqueous solution, and this amount increased on adding TFE. The helical content was unaffected by pH and salt. Howe...
